Yang Fudong as a part of China Up Close

China Up Close is a series of exhibitions that is going on from now until the 15th of March 2015. Here RNIS went to see Yang Fudong's film exhibition at ACMI. This was a free one for all. The exhibition helps to improve Australian and ASEAN relations as many Australians are encouraged to see this exhibition and learn about Chinese culture.

It was shown in gallery one which is downstairs from the main entrance. It was dark and gloomy once we got downstairs. You are greeted by advertisements and the staff handing out the brochures. The staff are smiling.

From there on in the images are moving and are shot really well. I loved the colour one at the beach really well and at the end there is a dog one where all the dogs eat each other to survive. It can be distressing for some. This one was set in Harbin and in the 1960's where communism was rife

You are transported back in time and to China.

It was fun getting up and close to the figures.

Then in the night one it was really dark and desolate. There was some feelings of love in a cold winters day. I loved the lady with the silk robe on. She looked gorgeous and I enjoyed the guy with the suit on.

The beach one was set in the 1930's and I enjoyed seeing the costumes and the happy faces. The women were also moving about joyously on the beach.

Do go and see this free exhibition before it closes for good on the 15th of March 2015.
