South Melbourne Market's cooking class

As a part of Market Week
As a part of our Health series.

This free masterclass focused on potatoes and what we could with potatoes. It was hosted by a stall called "Georgie's Harvest" which is a small business that supports organic farmers. They have a Facebook page

Normally a masterclass in the LG Kitchen at the market is $50-$95. But because its Market week it was free and of course many people turned up for the class and the free food.

The focus was on potatoes. In this class there were about ten different types of potatoes on display.
Some people had champagne and others didn't.

Here we sampled two types of potato salad: one of which is purple and the other, saltier one which is the white potato salad. They were both prepared by Claypots Evening star.

And then we were treated to another dish this time featuring grated cheese and bacon. This one is more of a comfort food for winter.

And then we sampled some of the olive oil from the shop. The oil was pure and it was one of the types of oil used for dressings.

Many thanks to South Melbourne for putting this on.
