Cheap utensils that won't break the bank



Everyone needs kitchen utensils when they arrive in Melbourne. You need ones that will last a year or two and that wont break the bank. The utensil set that RMIT Village offers is $300 and that doesn't include much.
So we've complied a list of cheap utensils that you can buy that won't break the bank.
1) Knives- you will need a set of them. You can buy a set of three for $24.95 or a big set of them for $100- $500. A knife set usually has one big one, a medium and a small knife. Some of them do have knife blocks others don't.
2) Teatowels or dish towels- You can buy them as a pack of three. Or if you have some at home you bring them to Australia.
3) Kitchen bin- Ikea in Richmond sells them for $14.95 and they last for a while. Get the metal ones, they last a lot longer.
4) Ladles for soup- Lots of places have ladles for $12
5) Spice rack- You can buy this at Howards Storage world for $34.95
6) Pots- It is better and cheaper to buy them as a set. You can buy them for $469 at the King of Knives or cheaper set at Target for $139 for a set of three.
7) Pans- Target has a set of two pans for $119.00.  The market sells them for $19 for a small one to $75 for a big one.
8) Chopping boards
The King of Knives sells them for $49.95
9) Colanders- the market sells them cheaply.
10) Whisk- Lets Cook sells them for about $5
11) Scales- theres a few places that sells them in Melbourne. One of them is at Matchbox which sells them from $30-$45
12) If you are a fan of wine- the corkscrew
12) Knife sharpener- you can buy this and the kitchen knife as a set. Matchbox has a set for $120.
13) Baking tins- you can buy these at Target for anywhere between $3 and $7 each
14) Peelers- you can buy this as a set for $13.95 from Howards storage world.
15) Tongs-  its about $25 from Howards Storage world, but $14 at House
16) Masher- its about $9- $20 from Kitchenware direct

Harvey Norman Domanye ( A melbourne store) has their half yearly sales where some of the things are only $2-$5.
The London American Kitchen store in the city has Plenty of utensils for cheap
The market has heaps of cheap utensils some of them for $10.
