Raw food: Put more raw into your diet

As part of RNIS's Healthy Living Month.

These days International students are not eating enough vegetables, fruits and raw things as it seems costly and time consuming. But it is not and putting more raw into your diet is very easy to do.We have just a few ideas on how to put more raw in.

Salads
These are really simple to make and you can put anything into it. All it is is just chopping and washing vegetables. Did you know that you can eat zucchini raw? Well you can. Salads take just ten minutes to do.

Vegetable snacks
I love my crudites as they are healthy. Team it up with a good tahini dip and you are good to go. Crudites take about 1-2 mins in the morning to prepare.

Smoothies
The Green smoothie is my favourite vegetable smoothies. But I also love juices such as real beetroot juice. You can buy real beetroots and boil them. If you don't have time in the morning you can get your healthy fix at Top Juice in the city if the Queen Vic Market is not opened. Or otherwise you can get your smoothie from Yoghurt Heaven.

Sashimi
Although expensive this is a really nice treat to have at home. You can buy the fish from the market and then just debone, wash and slice the fish nicely.

Vegetarian sushi

At Realfoods and other organic vegetarian places they have these amazing vegetarian sushi where there is no actual rice. Rather its parsnips, which look like rice.

The next Realfoods cooking demo is on Tuesday the 7th of October at the Realfoods cafe. It is from 6pm- 8:30pm.
