Cheap Breakfast eats around the city

This is for the on the go student. Many of you probably sleep in missing breakfast at home but want something for the on the go.

Well fear not! All of our recommendations are $5 and under and are in the city and surrounds.

1) Free food from Student Union

Who doesn't like a free breakfast? On Tuesday mornings at 8.30am the Student Union in the city campus put out a free breakfast spread. It is first come first served. They have muesli, bread and tea for all.

2) Bons Bons Bakery

It is a bakery just like Breadtop where you serve yourself. They are outside Flinders st station at the end where everything is so cheap.

Here I had their Russian sweet bun and their garlic bun. Altogether it was $4.80 and it filled me up.

Want some coffee? They have some coffee. And all different types.

3) Coles @Melbourne Central.

Here I bought $4.70 worth of food which consisted of yoghurt and museli and a cinnamon scroll.

Coles stock a range of breakfast items for on the go at $5 or less.

It is just outside the train station and on the way to RMIT.  Hence it is easy for you to buy healthy food on the way to uni.

Although at this store there are always queues, you can just jump the queue and go straight to the self service checkouts when they call "Next please".

4) Josies bar- This was Katherine's favourite breakfast place which is Australian with people calling her darling etc. Here Katherine got her egg roll for $5. It was big and very filling.

5) Make your breakfast sandwiches- it costs less than $2 to make.

6) Fruit freaks- they are a place in the city which does a range of breakfast yoghurt cups. I bought my yoghurt cup for $3

7) Hamodova cafe- but you might just have to mind all the homeless people that come in here at 10am in the morning looking for their regular coffee fix. There is only cereal and toast on the menu though. The people that work there are the lovely and friendly volunteers of the Salvation army.

8) Brumbys
Here I bought a custard scroll for $3.50. It used to be one of my favourites until the prices had gone up

9) The Borek shop at the Market
Here they have yummy filling boreks at $3 or sometimes they'll have a special of 2 for $5 for new flavours.
I really loved the chickpea borek.

10) Aldi supermarket on Franklin st. I know that they are a chain store but there is only one Aldi in the city. Here the place is a little smorgasboard where you choose quite a few items for breakfast.
Here I had two pastries for $2.70 altogether.

Hope this list helps you as it does me for when I need some cheap food for breakfast to get me though the day.
