The Happy Lab is a lolly store which originated in Melbourne. They have six stores in Melbourne. They started in 2011 and are going strong.
They are a gourmet lolly shop which not only sells the traditional type of lollies but they have their own crazy inventions such as the different types of popcorn and the 20 different types of chocolate flavours. In a way you could say that this is like Smiggle in that they have lots and lots of mind blowing candy and inventions.
I went to the one in Chadstone as this is closer to the City Campus. There is also one in Highpoint as well for the students that live in the west.
There are buses that goes to Chadstone from Caulfield station and you are there within ten minutes.
I bought the $5 Groupon which allows me to spend $10 in store. With Groupon if you upload your picture of your purchase to Instagram you can be in the draw to win $500 Groupon money and a $500 lolly voucher to spend at The Happy Lab
They stock everything from American Jelly beans in test tubes ($2.50 each for a small one) and self serve boxes of lollies which is about $2.90 for 100 grams. But there is a speical of $5 per box going for a limited time.
For self service you help yourself to their cute boxes, fold it and like the soft drink dispensers you put it under the type of lollies you want. And then you press the button to get the one you want. Don't worry if you don't get this the first time then you can ask the lovely, friendly staff for assistance
I got the self serve box. In it I sampled fruits, sour worms, cola bottles, fruit drops, chocolate balls (big mind blowing malteaser balls) and gummy bears.
These Malteaser balls are much bigger than the ones that you normally get in a small pack. Big fun I say.
The drops were soft and very sweet.
The cola bottle is really sour.
The fruits are SO ADDICTIVE.
Its best to share the box with someone. If you eat this by yourself you will get so sick of it as they are quite sweet.
It's very tempting and addictive. And fun. Be prepared to get your happy pants on. Oh and if you do like fun on the cheap do sign up to Groupon here.
