State Library

As part of our study and exams guide

The State Library is one of Melbourne's biggest and oldest library. Here you'll find lots and lots of stuff. Its free for everyone.

You can use the 15 minute computers for free
Here you can find chess games, books, magazines of all kinds, historical items, microfiches. And a reading room. It is really quiet in there at times.
You can read and research here as much as you need... but you can't borrow books. It is a nice and quiet place to study away from the distractions.

They have loads of books and journals for you to look at. But you don't borrow them.

You can play games as well in the third level. I always loved chess but there are other games that can be played for free.
Sometimes they hold events but not always.
You can hire a locker to store your stuff in for a small charge.
And they have MR Tulk, a cafe

Students if you are really tired of studying at RMIT, go to the State Library. They are opened from 10am-6pm most days.
