The Duchess of Spotswood is one place that has been talked about by bloggers and the like. It has been voted one of Melbourne's best cafes for years and I wanted to see why. About 62 bloggers talked about this place, so I must have been the last to know.
They are nearby Spotswood station so you can easily take the Williamstown train there.
The Duchess of Spotswood is a British cafe. Here it was really busy for a Monday afternoon. They are a small shop serving coffees and limited food. But the cakes sure are cute.
I went there with Friend A on my day off.
They do meals as well as coffees. I have read that their coffees are stellar, but I didn't have a chance to try one as such.
But what I did try and what really intrigued me was the Homemade lemonade ($4). It reminded me of early childhood days and it was nice and refreshing (especially with the mint down the bottom).
Friend A had the pork sandwich ($14.50) which was quite nice, but filling. She couldn't finish it all.
I had the fish and chips with the same salad as Friend A ($18.50). The fish and chips was quite nice. I loved the homemade chips. Nice and flavoursome. I loved the saltiness of this.
We both agreed that the salad was a little too salty for our liking.
Even though this place is out of my way I would love to visit there again, just to try their specialty coffees and cakes.
