shopping bargain hint list

Hey there, want to save a bit of cash whilst studying in Melbourne? Are you in a financial struggle? Well here's how you can save cash.
1) Groceries
* Buy things in bulk
* Buy things in season
* Go to the local markets on the weekends, as things are cheaper and are fresher. And you'll get to talk to some of the producers and learn how to cook new ingredients

2) Transport
* SIGN UP FOR AN ISIC CARD at STA travel on campus. That way you'll get cheaper tickets to travel around the country
An example of a Full fare monthly ticket

* Buy your tickets in bulk or better still get a monthly ticket (or a MYKI pass)
* If you live close to RMIT city campus, ride your bike there. That way you'll save heaps of money and get fit at the same time

3) Entertainment
* BUY AN ENTERTAINMENT BOOK FOR $65!!!! It will last all year, and you can save plenty of money on food and entertainment. They are sold at the RMIT Student Union now.
An example of some of the offers you could get

* Sign up for Movie clubs. They have cheaper movie deals for members during the week and you'll get to see a movie for $10. And if you earn enough points, then you can get free food or other rewards.
* SIGN UP FOR RMIT STUDENT UNION!!! Prices can vary, but they usually have a special during orientation. here you can enter in competitions to win plenty of prizes such as free movie tickets.
* Go to the Pub on their uni nights as drinks are cheaper then. Also the Student Union sometimes has pub crawls so be sure to check out: www.su.rmit.edu.au for more information and upcoming events
* Buy your movie tickets in bulk as they will save you a bit of money.
* Check the back of your shopping docket for some cool deals.
* For concert and expo tickets, buy them online as they will be a lot cheaper.

4) Bills
* Always turn off your appliances at the switch as it can save you a bit of money
* Air dry your clothes instead of putting them in the dryer
* In winter close all doors to keep the cold air out.
* Don't have too long a shower as you'll waste water

5) More shopping
* To save money on clothes go vintage shopping. There's bound to be cool clothes at cheaper prices
* Check out garage sales as they will have things for as little as $1
* Check out campus noticeboards for ads advertising cheap products
* Occasionally stores will have sales
