Australian government releases a new draft strategy for International students

The Australian government has introduced a new strategy and here's how to have your say

International education is an ever growing popular industry in Australia with $16.8 million dollars being earned from International students. About 300,000 of them come to Australia each year to study. Now the Australian government wants to make Australia a better place for International students.

To do this they have released a new Educational strategy and they need your help to improve it.

The aims of it is to foster network and cross country connections. The government wants Australia to stay competitive with the rest of the world and wants to improve the education quality in Australian unis for everyone.

The goals are (these were taken from Meld Magazine):
Getting the fundamentals right: Strong national policies for education, training and research will ensure we keep our reputation as one of the world’s leading providers of education.

  • Reaching out to the world: International education includes all aspects of our global teaching and research engagement. This includes Australian students studying abroad and engaging through language study. It includes research collaboration and the two-way movement of researchers, academics and professionals.
  • Staying competitive: Working together to provide international students with a great value package. High quality education experiences that utilise new technologies, offer strong and safe consumer protections and real work experience in professional and skilled employment are essential.

  • In a few years time the government wants to make $30 bil from International education. We think that this is a good move but I think that there can be a lot more done such as getting rid of the ghost writers and making sure that International students have the best care and time in Australia as they are paying a lot of money to come here.

Feedback is due on the 29th of May. You can leave your feedback here.
