My challenge on H20 for a month

As part of Bupa's best blog challenge for 2015

There is a lot of sugar in soft drinks and each of them is about 124 cal per bottle. When you think about it it is a lot. Soft drinks outside can range from $4-$7.50 per bottle depending on where you get them from. This Jan-Feb RNIS signed up for the water challenge.

Just recently RNIS signed up for the H20 challenge which means that they could not have sugary drinks for one month. They can still have coffee, yogurt and tea. They also made another rule though and that was not to have ice cream.

But did we lose the weight and what else did we learn?

No not really, we only lost about 1-2kg during that time. But we felt cleaner and for the ladies had a lot less painful periods. Also our energy had increased during this time meaning that we could do a lot more things. We slept better as well.

RNIS were very tempted by the soft drinks particularly in warmer weather but they stuck to their guns. They also were tempted by the 1% cheap Slurpee Monday.

What advice would we give to students?
Put your water bottle in an easy to access and see place. Also try and flavour your water. I love putting green tea in my water as it is a digestive tea.

And if friends ask why you are not drinking at the pub and are only drinking water, encourage them to sign up as it is better to do it in teams, rather than on your lonesome.
