Bomba goes to Spain

RNIS was invited by Tomato Media

This event is normally $60 per person and it includes a glass of Vermut and other cocktails.

Bomba is a Spanish tapas bar which makes all things from scratch. They are on Lonsdale street right near Parliament station and the theatres, so it is handy for a pre movie drink or meal.

The guys at Bomba are lovely and the place is lovely for social gatherings. They have a rooftop bar which is where everyone met for pre drinks. RNIS met up with the Plus Ones bloggers. RNIS and the Plus ones have similiar tastes in blogging and food.

The evening was about promoting Vermut ( A Spanish wine) and Casa Migrol Megare ( a cross launch) and some new dishes from Spain where Jesse and the chefs at Bomba travelled to.

Sorry there are no pictures of the drinks as it was too dark and my pictures were very blurry to begin with

We were served ten courses and appertifs. To start off with we had pickles with potato crisps. I really loved the chilli, the mackerel fish and pickled onions. It was made in house. In fact we got served four bowls and we kept on eating them.I was so full by the time the truffled sausages came.

And then at 7:30pm we were ushered downstairs for a two hour dinner. Here we were served mortadito with house tuna, ox tail croquettas and the asparagus with pancetta. These entrees were moreish- in fact the ox tail croquettes were too moreish.

The house bake bread was yum and freshly baked.

These were sharing plates and there were tables of four, five and ten. If you were just a couple you'd have to share the table with others. That's where the mingling started. It is not uncommon to mingle with strangers in Melbourne.

And then we were served rice which looked like pudding to be honest. But it worked well with the gastronomic mackerel (fish) and the pork bomba (pork balls).

The lettuce leaf was too hard but the dressing was lovely.

I loved the truffled sausages. They were nice and so were the baby bravatas ( potatos the Spanish way).

We ended the night with a nice creme catalana (Creme brulee) which is huge.

Overall Bomba deserves a 9/10 for the best Spanish bar in Melbourne and their amazing rooftop bar and a 17/20 for their amazing meal. We left feeling very very full.

Thanks Tomato Media for inviting us.
