Paperboy Kitchen

Paperboy Kitchen is a newish Vietnamese place run by a lovely Australian guy called Adam.

The place is on Little Lonsdale st near Queen st. It is a small restaurant.

The place itself is warm and friendly. There isn't a lot of seating so most people get takeaway.

The place was quiet at 11:30am on a Tuesday which was good as I had the pleasure of meeting Adam and Howie.

I had the hot lemon tea ($3.50), vietnamese iced coffee ($4), panko fish with salad ($13) and cauliflower bhanh mi ($11, but it was a huge roll with the ever so addictive popcorn).

The Hot lemon tea packed a punch. It had star anise, lemon and mint and was really sweet. It is good for those cold days in winter when you want to warm up. There's heaps of vitamin c in there.

The iced cold coffee came just like a normal Vietnamese coffee where you have to wait for it to brew and drip into the cup from this special metal thing on top. And then you have to stir the condensed milk. I have never really tried this before so I can't say.

Both the bhanh mi and salad with panko fish was packed with vegetables and lots of it which I like. As a vegetarian this is good. In fact the salad is really healthy for you and would be a favourite for all the health freaks in Melbourne. Apart from the pickled carrots this doesn't have too much dressing in it. All the vegetables are fresh and if you like chilli you can help yourself to this at the water and chilli station.

The panko fish was crunchy which was good. And it was perfectly cooked on the inside.

Verdict: Do visit this hidden away place and I hope that they invite Eat and Be Merry to try the place.
