Malaysian government- the Bersih rally

Malaysia is quite a conservative country.

There are a lot of problems in Malaysia, one being racism. This election in Malaysia has just worsened this problem

This year there have been more scandals and price increases. The service charge increased to RM 77. These elections according to some are fraudulent.

The Malaysian elections are talked about widely here and students have already voted in Melbourne. The students in Melbourne feel like they can't do anything about this. Some don't know whether to go back to Malaysia or not. Some are scared.

There was also a silent rally in Melbourne a few days ago where the people wore black and masks.  Here these people were hopeful. The people really wanted a sense of unity as "Malaysians". Clean and fair was the motive here.

According to some Malaysians the election was one sided.

Watching all these Malaysians asserting their views and holding up placards, Asma, a Gen-X Malaysian tells us, “No matter how far away from home you are, you’re still a Malaysian.”
