Uncle Tobys Oats

As part of our Health and Human development series
I just bought a pack of Uncle Tobys oats. I have been eating them for a few years now they never seem to dissappoint.

I usually have them for breakfast with sugar and milk. Put it in the microwave for about 1 min 30 secs and wella you have breakfast ready. They are about $4-$5 a packet in the supermarket.

Or you can use it as a facial scrub (the recipe for this was taken from the Weekend notes site)

You will need:

1 tbsp spoon of natural honey
- 1 tbsp Greek or natural yoghurt (no flavours, colours, preservatives)
- 1 tsp natural lemon juice
- 1 tbsp instant oats (plain and natural)
- 1 tsp olive oil

Place all ingredients in a small bowl and mix together with a spoon until well combined. Be sure to stop and smell this creamy concoction as the scent is divine.

Next, test the mixture on a hidden part of your skin, leaving the mixture sitting on your skin for 10 – 20 minutes and rinse thoroughly with warm water. Make sure the mixture has not upset your skin. If not, then smother your freshly cleansed and dried face with the mixture and kick back for 10 – 20 minutes.

Warning: This homemade face mask has been known to cause relaxation of the body, mind, soul and senses. Please have a warm cuppa, magazine or good book and a comfy couch ready for action! Thoroughly rinse the mask off your face with warm water.

Tip 1# you can lightly exfoliate your skin if you gently work the oats in circular motions on you face while you're rinsing.

Tip 2# you could even place in a blender some ingredients from the mask 1 tbsp natural honey, 2 tbsp natural yoghurt, 1 banana and ½ cup of any milk for a delicious homemade smoothie. Add a shot of espresso coffee to the smoothie for an energising boost.

I've been using this homemade mask to brighten up my skin for approximately 5 years now, religiously twice a week but also when some relaxation time is needed. My inspiration came from reading and researching on the internet about homemade face masks, I chose my favourite ingredients for this particular mask.

A great website for tips, tricks and new concoctions is The Homemade Facial Mask.

Be sure to check it your for yourself and experiment with different ingredients.
