Metro Transit teams launch @The Couch

Just a few days ago I received a Facebook invitation from The Couch to attend todays event.
This new team is made up of Salvation army volunteers.

Their aim is to keep the city safe as well as assisting people to get home.  They will operate from Monday- Thursday 5pm-7pm and late night on Friday and Saturday. If you need they will have water, lollies, maps, timetables and thongs to hand out for free. They are also trained in First Aid. They work closely with Victoria police and Metro to create a safer city for all. Currently there are 120 volunteers. Both Metro and Vic Police welcomed this idea by the City of Melbourne and Salvation army.

It started at 3pm with a few speeches and then we went on to refreshments which was fruit and biscuits.
There was a lovely band playing as well.
Many thanks to the Salvation army for organising this and most importantly helping to keep our city safe
