Cooking demonstration @ Queen Victoria Market- 3/3/11

Today was a rather cold and windy day. This event was held outdoors and it was free for everyone, so I did go. This event attracted lots of people that all braved the cold and the rain. Today’s cook was a famous chef called “Tobie Puttock”. I have seen him before in the woolworths ads. He owns a restaurant which I have not heard about until today in Melbourne
He did two vegetarian dishes and one dessert. Here are all the recipes and the pictures:
1)      Organic Asparagus Milanese

2)      Orecchiette with organic broccoli Rabe and Anchovy- Orecchiette is an Italian pasta found in most Italian grocery shops and delis. Anchovies is small salted fish in a jar that can be found in most supermarkets and delis. If you don’t like anchovies you don’t have to put that in. Percino is a type of cheese found in most Italian delis and food shops.

3)      Organic Baked pears with Vin Santo and Cinnamon- Vin Santo is alcoholic. If you can’t afford it you can buy the amoretto which might be a bit cheaper.

In the second dish he said that the pasta can keep for a day or two.

Afterwards we all got to have a bit of a taste of the dishes. I liked the second one the best because the pasta was at its best and the chilli flavours were a little bit strong
