Operator25 and Zomato

As part of Bupa's best blog competition for 2015

Operator25 is in a laneway in between Queen and William sts in the city. It is near Flagstaff station. It was here that I met Julia of Zomato.

Zomato is a food sharing site and it does have a ranking system in place. The more you are active on that site the higher your rankings go.

As for adding a restaurant you need to email Zomato and their 60+ members of their content team will go out to the restaurant and try their food and then will verify them. Similarly if a restaurant closes they will do that too. Their aim is to as open as possible and inform people of closures. With Urbanspoon there were a lot inaccurate information as they were run by a team from Seattle. So that meant that anyone can add stuff in and be anonymous.

With Zomato you now have to login with your Facebook/Instagram/Gmail account.

Back to Operator25, it was quite packed for a Wednesday morning. In fact there were lots of people waiting for their coffees which I must say was stellar. But they forgot Julia's second coffee which she did not mind at all. I had a filtered coffee ($6)which does take time to do.

Then just to be healthy I had the chickpea fritters with flattened bread and hummus ($25). I also added a side of smoked salmon ($7 for moreish proteins). It was lovely and very homemade

I wanted their cupcakes but they did not have it.

Rating: 15/20- loved their healthy approach to their food. Its easy to see why people really loved this place and Zomato

Fish with spaghetti

As part of Bupa's best blog competition for 2015

This one is one quick and easy thing to make for dinner. This is good for students who don't have a lot of time or money.

We bought Barrilla pasta from the supermarket.

Our fish was bought from the fish shop and we used lots of spring onions and leek. These are in season now.  If you eat fish 3-4 times a week it will give you lots of omega 3.

You can use any type of fish with this but for this one we used a snapper one. The broth was soy sauce, mirin and a little bit of miso.

Here we cooked the pasta according to the directions and fried the fish. Then we added our sauces in with the fish and then the leek and then the pasta.

Wella what an easy meal for a tired and hungry student

Healthy Lifestyle Lounge

As part of Bupa's best blog competition for 2015

The Healthy lifestyle lounge has been around for quite some time now and it has helped a few people to achieve their weight loss goals. We talk about this here
The Healthy Lifestyle Lounge is on Level 10 at 10 Elizabeth st Melbourne.
We really enjoyed ourselves here. The coaches really spend a lot of time helping you to not only lose weight but to be healthy and at your best.

Being healthy is not boring. In fact it is fun and the nutrition workshops and party shows this. The less obese (plump, put in a nice way) you are the happier you are. About 7 out of 10 people are overweight and could be helped to be leading a better lifestyle.

We were shown different types of smoothies which incorporated fruit and their protein powders from a company called Herbalife. They say that you should eat every 2-3 hours and smaller meals.
One of the Herbalife teas

One of the things we learnt is that it is not all about exercise to be healthy. It is about having 80% of nutrition (good fats and protein and carbs) and 20% of exercise which helps a lot to lead a healthy lifestyle. There are fit clubs all over Melbourne which are free to join and the post workout smoothie is only just a mere $5

At the end of the month there is a party to celebrate your achievements during that month. Of course it is healthy as it is a healthy fit club but there are lots of yummy treats that are healthy such as cheeses, breads and dip

The new minion movie and why you should see it

As part of Bupa's best blog competition for 2015

They say that laughter is the best medicine and it is. Students now is a good time to see the movie, now that your exams are over.

Following from the old movies (Despicable Me 1 and 2) there is a new movie featuring minions and Scarlett Overkill. It is set in the year of 1968 when the Beatles were famous and 40 before Gru came along. There are three minions: Bob, Steve and Kevin. Bob was the youngest one and the overzealous one and Steve was the hungriest one.

A thousand years ago the Minions had a few rulers and they overpowered them all. They were left on their own for some time now and they got bored. So Kevin had an idea to find a new one in New York. He chose the two companions and together they set off. In a department store in New York they found out about the Villian Con and they got there.

This is how they met Scarlett (voiced by Sandra Bullock) who is pure evil. She lives in London and wants the queens crown. She gets it alright but then they get locked up. At the coronation she is about to be crowned queen when the Minions stop her. The other thousands of minions arrive to save the day.

It was a pure joy to watch and it will have you laughing until the very end. Do see this enjoyable movie.
