This is a Beyond Welcome event which the City of Melbourne invited RNIS and other students along to. But you have to sign up for the Beyond Welcome events.
This was held in an old building in Collins st which was spectacular. The firm itself is relaxed and the lawyers day always changes as things come up or change. The employees love their sports and charities (they have 10 charities) and are always happy to employ International students and the graduates provided that they have enough experience and can get along in a team.
Networking is always important and Clayton Utz employees have many social events and a few end of week parties. You'll always have chances to meet someone outside your team. You will work in a team of 10-12 people in an office. The employees go to see clients in the clients place or they will invite clients over.
These people are open and friendly and are always willing to give a hand. There is bound to be someone in the same boat as yourself. Some of the stuff that you don't learn in uni you can learn it whilst volunteering or doing a part time job such as team work, being punctual etc.
This event was a very good chance to mingle with people that you don't know and its great that City of Melbourne have provided this opportunity to visit the workplace to see what it is like working 9-5pm on a daily basis.
Many thanks to Gary from the City of Melbourne for the invite
