Supermarkets vs Convenience stores which do you prefer?

As part of Bupa's best blog competition for 2015

Students in Melbourne there are two types of stores selling your everyday needs. We compare each type of store for buying conveniences.

1) Supermarkets- they have larger varieties of items. They also have atms many of which are free for their customers to use. They also sell phone recharges, but I don't think they sell calling cards.
Instead of friendly staff to serve you they have automated machines in which you serve yourself. The items are often cheaper. There are days where they have specials, just check with your local store

2) Convenience stores- they are mainly small businesses. You'll find them on every street corner mainly in the suburbs. They do have smaller varieties of items and are generally more expensive.
But you can buy recharges and pay bills here. Something which you don't do at supermarkets is recharge your mykis and rent dvds which is what most conveniences have. Also most convenience stores have atms but you might have to pay a small fee of $2-$5 to withdraw funds.
They also sell calling cards.
They have friendly staff to assist you.

Which do we prefer? The supermarket of course if we can as items are cheaper. But if you need something in a hurry then your local convenience store.
