Superfoods

As part of RNIS's healthy living month.

These are the list of superfoods that are good for you. Some of them are relatively cheap and others are more expensive.

Cacao- it is a type of raw chocolate which I love. This is the healthiest sort of chocolate. There is a a few speciality organic stores that sells these.

Cranberries- they are high in antioxidants, which means that it is good for your skin. You can eat them dried or fresh.

Spinach- this is great vitamin b and good for your skin. Realfoods does this amazing green smoothie with spinach in it.

Bananas- Bananas are cheap and are in season. Fresh bananas is better and healthier for you than dried ones. You can also freeze them for smoothies if need be.

Fish- I know that the price can vary for fish but at the market I know it is $25-$35 per kg. It depends on the fish you buy. Fish is good for the brain and you can have it in many ways.
Seafood- its best to buy them at the fishmonger or the market as they can tell you what is fresh and what is not.

Tofu- are available all year round in supermarkets and in Asian stores. This is good for strong bones and its great for those that don't like milk. It is about $3-$5 per carton at the Asian grocers and you can use this in almost anything.

Chia seeds- I got my pack for $13 at a health food store. These aren't always available at the supermarket but they are available at your health food store/market.

Pumpernickel- this is mainly in the bread form.

Nuts and seeds of any type has all the good fats in there to help you to function. They can range from $6-$14 a kg at the market, supermarket and speciality nut stores.

Blueberies- these are summer fruits but you can buy them frozen as well for the winter. These are great in smoothies as well as eaten by themselves.
In the coming months we'll have a few more things to do with superfoods.
