University funding cuts

This year the Federal government has decided to place more cuts on the university budget which means that courses will be more expensive to run. It will also mean that students have to pay more for their fees as there will be no start up scholarship and other things

It will also mean that Australia will lose its reputation as the best country to study in the world. About $2.8 bill is estimated to be lost through these funding cuts.

It is also said that some of these university campuses such as Swinburne might have some of their campuses shut due to these cuts.

But some of these universities might not lose out entirely if they have good online system where they can do online courses.

The effect it has on students:
Students are not happy that they have to pay more money. They worry about being in debt. There are a few protests going on about this with the national day of strike on the 14th of May.

They also worry about the quality of education and the fact that it will decrease due to loss of staff and campus closures. The class sizes will be a lot bigger. The staff that are there will have double the workload.

So what can you do
Sign the petition here and participate in the strike action.
