TAFE is the transition to Degree course in Melbourne. Here the Ballieu government (Victorian Government) is planning to cut a lot of TAFE courses and jobs in Melbourne and increase Higher Education fees.. TAFE used to be free for all students, but now students have to pay a bit of money. These courses aqre there to help people to get into the workforce as well as adjust to Uni.
What will the cuts mean for us as students?
It will mean higher fees and less affordability for students as well as more failures in Higher Ed because students are not used to the Tertiary system here.
It will also lead to about 2000 job cuts, hence the more permanent staff will have to take on more and will less likely be able to help students.
How you can help?
* Join the TAFE page

And more importantly if you are in Melbourne on the 16th of August come along to the rally at the State library in Melbourne at 12 noon. There will be a March that day.
