internet cafes

There are many Internet cafes around Melbourne, all of which charge $2-$3 per half hour. There are some in Chinatown and Bourke st, near the Business campus. This is the list of Internet cafes in and around Melbourne: http://www.onlymelbourne.com.au/melbourne.php?id=192.

These are normally used in times of emergency such as the first few days when you don't have a student card, just yet. The Internet at RMIT is free for all students to use. There is Internet also at the state library and that too is free for everyone. But they do have time limits. Please watch the time limit carefully.

You can use RMIT's wireless system in places that have the free RMIT Wireless sign up. One place is Melbourne Central's foodcourt. All you need is a laptop and some sort of Internet server. It is free to sign up, you just go to the RMIT IT department on your campus and they'll set it up for you
