The Australian Open is on again this year from the 19th of January to the 1st of Feburary at Melbourne Park. This is a huge tennis tournament where all the starts come out to play. Think Federer, Murray and all the others.

Every year the tournament is a lot of fun to go and watch.

How to get there:
There is the free shuttle tram service from Flinders st station for ticketholders to get to and from the match. The only condition is that you need to buy your ticket beforehand.  But if you live on the southside and don't want to go all the way into the city then you might consider getting off at Richmond and walking there as it on one side of the station.

Oh yeah and if you live in the city or stay there then don't forget that trams are free in the city. So no need for the MYKI.

Costs:
The ticket is $55 for a ground pass and about $76 to see a match. With the ground pass you can do lots of stuff.
Food is very expensive at Melbourne Park so it is better to bring your own food in, but no alcohol. Water is fine and in fact you should drink lots during the match as it is hot in there. Don't forget a hat and some sunscreen. There are many eateries on Bridge Road and Swan st or you can make your own snacks.

Oh and do wear comfortable shoes as there is a bit of walking to do.

Where to buy the tickets?
Online if possible to avoid the queues or at the Ticketek office. If you buy them on the day you might have to wait in long queues and maybe miss your desired match. Not only that, it might be more expensive. If you choose to print your tickets at home you'll save on postage and handling fees.
