Meet your campus departments: The Welfare and Education departments

Did you know that Education and Welfare are two departments that help to run the student union and that look after you whilst at uni? Well they are here as we explain.

These departments work in close proximity with each other. You may not see them much in uni as they don't organize all the fun things. They are more about the serious side to uni.

The welfare and education departments are the ones that organize your student campaigns at University. They campaign for cheaper housing. To ease the financial pressures off students they do many free food events such as free breakfasts.

Each year the University sends the student union some money depending on the previous year's quarterly reports and how much they have spent. It also depends on how money the uni has for the student union. Depending on what welfare and education can afford their breakfasts and free meals may not be as frivolous as some unis.

They are the ones that also help run the drop in centre which is like counselling but in a much more friendly way.

The education department hasn't been as active as it had been in the past year with the free noodles and all but they have been thinking of students by organizing and supporting the "Bust a Budget" and the TAFE rallies.

So do come along to a free bbq or breakfast event and meet them. Or you can ask at the Front Counter as to where they reside.
