Bread Kingdom is every where these days in Melbourne. Like Starbucks and Rolld they are taking over the whole state.
But here in Footscray it was dead quiet on a busy weekday morning. This place is near the train station.
The service there wasn't the best. I was expecting a free giveaway of cake for every purchase that I made but that wasn't the case (the city one had giveaways). The lady at counter was really rude and she snapped when I took photos. It would have been nicer if she wrote a sign. Most bloggers are customers and word often goes around about the service.
I had the croque monsieur ($2.50) That was really lovely.
My favourite would have to be the Honey toast ($1.80) for two pieces
I bought these orange shell ball biscuits for $2.50. It was moist and on first taste it tasted a lot like green tea. But then later on I could taste the orange peel and flavour. It was more like a cake rather than a biscuit.
Newsflash to that Bread Kingdom: The City store is a lot nicer in terms of service than this one. And the City store was happy to let me have lots of photos. In fact they were happy to have a few bloggers visit.
There are a lot more bakeries that are better than this one in Footscray, but if you want cheap toast and don't mind the service then this is the place for you.
Score: 5/10 (some points lost for service). I don't know if I'd return but if I was to choose a branch I'd do the city one
