Buying your coffee everyday in a take away cup costs about $3-$4. That amount times 7 days and you'll get $21-$28 per week just spent on coffees. . Per month it is $92.
Per year it would be about $1800-$2000
Costly isn't it.
But cafe coffee doesn't have to be all that expenisve especially made at home. An expresso machine from the supermarket costs around $70-$200. These are only just the tiny ones meant for single rooms.
But you can buy bigger ones for the whole house to share. does everyone in the house drink coffee? You all chip in some money and you buy it together. A coffee machine at MYER is around $800-$1200. Hence that would equal to about $200- $300 per person. You may also need to buy a frother to froth your milk.
The major brands are Delonghi, Nespresso, Sunbeam and Electrolux. You can choose between automatic and manual depending on how much time you have. The automatic ones includes the frother. The auomatic ones take less time to make the coffee. Don't forget that you'll need to clean it after use or otherwise you might not get such a good cup of coffee next time. You'll also need to read and understand the instruction manual that comes with it or othewise you'll end up having a lot of problems with it and it can be costly to fix.
And then you'll need to buy the coffee. Which do you prefer? Pods are more expensive. You can buy bags of coffee from speciaility stores, but if you are new to the coffee scene then it best to go to a few cupping classes. Coffee beans range from $15- $25 per jar/bag. This is a great chance for you to try coffee for free and get to ask the barista lots of questions about where their coffee comes from and which is the best to buy.
Our verdict: don't skip going to cafes all together; just visit them occasionally. We usually visit them about twice a week and the other times we make our own.
Hope this helps.
