Chinese New year is on the 10th of Feb and this year is the year of the snake. There are many celebrations to be had . Some of which Sally and I went to in the course of two weeks.
1) The Hawkers Market- check out the post on this.
2) Fed Square and Chinatown- this is where the traditional lion dancing happens. We had other things on that Saturday so we could not go
3) Melbourne central (9 th of Feb to the 16th of Feb)
There wasn't a lot going on at Melbourne Central except for a lucky dip and lion dancing. I got a buy one get one free cupcake voucher from Cupcake central
4) The Chinatown pop up threads.
This happens once every month on the third Friday. Here we had just dumplings. There are several posts on this but the one sold quite a few Chinese new paper cuts and decorations plus the usual things.
There are other celebrations in Glen Waverley and Box Hill. But they were all the same as the ones in the city. Hence we didn't visit.
