SSAF fees and how this will affect you

From this semester onwards RMIT will charge $260 for SSAF (Student Service Amenities Fee). Why?
This is a government fee and universities must charge this fee to improve student services. It is allowed to be spent on improving services for students and food outlets. From 2013 all students will be charged this fee, but from 2012 only the domestic students will be charged

You can defer the payment if need be
With this RMIT will:
* It already has a student advisory committee
* Spend it on RUSU and RMIT link

With this money RUSU will have extra staff and more funding for clubs.

What I would like to see happen is:
* More events
* Better Academic policies for exclusion, special consideration etc
* Better food outlets
* A nurse on campus
* A better "At risk" program for students
* More funding for clubs and for free meals
* More funding for the furniture cage to be open for more hours
* Better English language program for International students
* A welcome pack for International students which then welcomes them to life in Melbourne

Many students are still in the dark about the SSAF fee that they had to recently pay. Not many people wanted to pay the $260 fee just for semester 2 and for the services they did not use or see fit. Some people felt that it was a violation of their privacy.

RMIT could have promoted the SSAF fee a bit better and involved all students in the decision making.

Some students felt that RMIT could have used the money a bit better

What would you like the funding to be spent on? Tell us below.
