How to choose a good cafe

And no Starbucks and gloria jeans do not count as they are profit making companies and they are always greedy for money
I have been to Starbucks and Gloria Jeans and hated their coffees. Their coffees were tasteless.
So how to choose a good cafe
1) Ratings- does it have good reviews? Look on www.urbanspoon.com and see what people say

2) The business- is the cafe really busy or dead quiet. If it dead quiet there's always a good reason as to why. Is it dirty? Chances are if you go there you could be really ill afterwards
3) The staff- do they know what they are doing? Can they answer your questions? Are they trained to do the job? If not chances are that they are underpaid and the cafe is really bad. Run away immediately.
4) The equipment- the tamp has to be about 15 kgs for the coffee to be grounded properly. Also the equipment should be clean for it to work properly
5) It depends on the time you go- If you get there half an hour after opening it may take a lot more time to get everything set up. Go there half an hour before closing time and the staff will be grumpy and everything gets packed away. They may be thinking about going home and not about the job.
6) The presentation- its a must. If coffee and food is presented terribly chances are that it does not taste good.
7) Is the wand doing its job properly? If so your milk should be frothed not burnt.
