When you arrive in Melbourne and have the chance to explore the cbd there are two information booths that you can go to should you need any help finding your way around.
1) Federation Square- Opposite Flinders st station
2) Bourke Street- In the Bourke st Mall opposite Myer.
There are also volunteers from the City of Melbourne who are happy to help you out. They are dressed in Red.
Also other people are willing to help you if need be. Just don't ask someone who looks like they will mug you.
