The People's waffle is a waffle place in Hawthorn near Swinburne uni which had opened about three months ago.
About two weeks ago they had a Groupon deal and when I saw this I was excited as there is a waffle place right near Swinburne. The Swinburne students now don't need to trek into the city to buy their waffle goodness.
The deal was $5 for one waffle and a drink for one person, so I thought why not. I did a bit of research on the place before buying.
The place is very cozy and inviting. The atmosphere reminds me of Waffle On in the city. They focus mainly on sweet waffle but there is a couple of savouries. Hence this is a good place to go to after lunch. It is run by students for students and they do have some late night hours (until 10 pm that is).
They were not busy at 11am when I came. I would have thought that they would be busy with students buying coffee and waffles.
They don't do your typical drinks either. Rather their cold drinks are in jars and they do coca cola floats.
Their waffles are amazing. I had their special of Lindt chocolate and it was just divine! Normally it is $4.20 with almonds but I had it as part of their Groupon deal. They specialise in Belgian waffles and this one was just perfect.
Their iced latte was amazing and I didn't need the extra ice cream. I almost ordered it but I realized that the waffle was so sweet and amazing. But I did need a little bit of sugar as it was a little bit bitter.
To all those that say the Groupon deal is bad it actually wasn't all that bad and the lady and the gentleman that served me was so sweet.
I have suggested that they invited other bloggers to try and this would be a great place for MELD Magazine, Confessions of a little piggy and Here's the veg to try. I wish more people knew about the little gem in Hawthorn.
