El Alamo

El Alamo is an empanadas place in Prahran. It is exclusively empanadas and some salads only. It is a pop up store only.

An empanada is a Argentinian/Spanish street snack which is a pastry filled with things inside. They have this in South America. Not so much in Melbourne.

So the Argentinian students from Monash Uni decided to open a store to promote Argentinian food and New International students were invited to try.

Here they have combos of 2 empanadas and a drink for $13 or 2 empanadas, a dessert and drink for $17. An empanada is $5 each.

There's a couple of vegetarian ones on offer as well as meat. There is also a dessert one.

I really loved the Caprese one, but it was the chicken that I loved the most. The chicken was flavoursome with the chimichurri sauce.

These empandas are freshly baked and smelt and tasted good. The Duche de leche was the same.

There are two types of chimichurri sauce- plain and spicy.
The guy tells me that they don't make them there but at his kitchen on Chapel st. They had run out of the dessert one which was a shame as I wanted to try this.

I will be back for the salads and will encourage others to visit the place.
