International students being abused at Brisbane airport

In light of the cleaners scandal that is going on right now where cleaners particularly International students are not getting enough pay, there is another new scandal emerging. We explain this scandal.

Last month the RMIT Newintstudents team have heard that a group of female International students that work at Brisbane airport have been sexually abused by their boss. It was reported to the authorities but the authorities did nothing to protect them.

The Brisbane Times has reported this issue and this is the first time we have come across it.

This employer offered to drive them home, but instead drove them into dark alleyways hoping for sexual favours. If they didn't perform them then they'd be fired. This guy also forced himself on to them behind closed doors.

These women are scared to speak out in case of losing their visa. There is a petition that is going on about this issue.

The enquiry still continues. Brisbane Airport officials are concerned and had contacted the student. There is a petition going around which everyone should sign it.

Students, being abused at work or being asked to do "sexual favours" at work is a no no. You can say no at any time. But if you are being forced into this then you can contact Worksafe or your union about this issue. They can help you press charges against your boss.
