MYkI vs Metcard

Metcard is the old ticketing system which everyone enjoys. There is no fee besides travel that you have to pay and it does not over charge you. It is a paper based system
Very soon the old ticketing system will not work and you will have to be on the new system and you will have to buy the reusable green plastic card.
MYKi is the new system which everyone hates but has to use. It costs $6 just to buy a card and then you have to top it up with some money. The $6 is non refundable.
And then there is the problem of being overcharged and not understanding how the system works. We all don't understand the system, let alone the tourists who have to use it. Just reccently I saw a lady being fined on the tram for not validating her MYKI when she did.
If a train has been late many times you can get compensation in the way of two free daily tickets for every monthly, weekly and yearly tickets but you don't get any compensiation on your myki.
And what if you forgot the card at home? You don't want to have to pay $6 for a new one and then put more money on it. Its a waste of plastic. What if you lost it too? then it will be costly to replace.
Also you need to register the card online. And everyone can see your information. Where as with metcard you don't need to.
Sometimes the myki readers or the myki fails to work as it did with one of my Friends. What do you then whilst the myki is being replaced? It may take a while for it to be replaced
Which do you prefer: Myki or Metcard?

If you didn't have a choice would you fare evade to save money? In the Age some people do. About 50% of people on the trams don't touch on or off. Same for the bus. It costs $3.28 for one short trip on the train or tram using Myki money. But if you have a pass it is free
