Il Pomodoro an invite

RNIS was given a voucher by Dimmi  to spend at this restaurant.

Il Pomodoro is known as classic little Italy in the heart of Federation Square. Before 2015 not many people liked it as it was known for bad service and food. But all that changed this year. I think they changed hands as the restaurant is busier than before.

We went on a quiet Tuesday night at 7:30pm. The place is quite small but there is outdoor and indoor seating. Their wine list features Italian wines and prosecco.

The service were not bad and attentive. Even one remembered to ask how the meal went. That is always a good sign as they are willing to listen to customers.

Here we started off with garlic pizza bread. It was quite salty but it was a nice way to start the meal. And it was only $9. I remember this at Harry's Bar and Food room and this did not disappoint.

Next up was the gnocchi and buffalo cheese with pomodoro for $26. It was a tad bit pricey given the size of the dish, but I think they needed to pay the rent as rent at Federation Square is costly. Still the pasta was homely and around about eight pm it was the right size for me. The gnocchi was soft and pillowy and had that lovely texture.

Dessert was a deconstructed lemon tart. At first glance when it was at the table I thought it was two scoops of lemon sorbet, but on closer inspection it was the deconstructed tart of $12. It was the highlight of the meal. Here the dessert was not too sweet and the sorbet was heavenly. Yippee

Rating: 15/20- a bit more of a casual restaurant rather than a formal one. The waitress wore jeans which added to the casual vibe. Perhaps they need to get more bloggers to try their food and outweigh the negativity on Zomato.
