RNIS was invited by Gusto Italiano and Thirty Eight Chairs and did not have to pay
Thirty Eight Chairs is in South Yarra and they do great Italian food. But they have a lot of competition up their alley with Caffe E Cucina and others. Everything is homemade.
Everyone there is very friendly and they look after their customers well. At nighttime it gets rather busy.

The lovely wine glasses |
The Gusto Italiano deal is $27 for wine (soft drink for me- I'm wining later), pasta, bread, olives, coffee or tea (hot chocolate for me as I drink none of these. I am mormon).
The lemon lime and bitters was a good refreshing start to the day.

Bread |
The bread was nice and soft and made in house. The olives were really warm. In fact they were a little too warm. Cold is probably better and much easier to eat.
Here I tried the pasta which is vegetarian and it is papardelle with cheese and sage and brocoli. The Papparedelle was al dente but the broccoli was overcooked. It was very cheesey which I loved and is good for you.
The hot chocolate at the end was a nice way to finish the meal and lift the spirits. Outside it was cold and wet and yucky. Not a good day for Oaks day. Perhaps punters should have cancelled and stayed at home.
Rating: 17/20 - good meal and good hospitality. Will come back for dinner one day.
