Nandos in St Kilda

This Nandos is quite clean and has two storeys. This Nandos has a lot more space for indoor dining. They also have some space outside for dogs and diners.

On this New Years Eve it was packed with tourists and beach goers. The service there was just alright.

Well how does this one stack up to the other one? Well for starters I had the burger (simply chicken) with the spicy rice. The  chicken was a little pink in the middle but I didn't mind too much.

The rice was a little bit spicy which is great. The rice was just perfectly cooked and I prefered that health kick.

The meal also comes with a drink and I enjoyed my small lemonade.

I prefer the St Kilda one over the City any day. It is a lot friendlier and busier.

We all know that junk food is unhealthy for you, but what do you think of Nandos? They make their own sauces and everything is really spicy which is great for your metabolism. They cook everything on site and the meals are ready in ten minutes.

Well RNIS went to visit the one in Docklands as all the other shops were closed and the one that we originally booked by Menulog was having problems of its own.

The portions (a veggie wrap and spicy rice) were the right size for someone that is trying to be healthy. Actually I don't need a lot of food for dinner; I am fine with just a little. Nowadays I think a lot of International students eat waaay too much food for dinner.

The spicy rice might have been a little too dry but it was ok. I really did enjoy the veggie patty in the wrap and their take on wrap which looks small is actually moreish.

Get That India is a Indian- western fusion place that specializes in burgers. They do curries as well but that's not what you go there for.

Ok the place is just a stone's throw away from Prahran station and the number 72 tram from the city passes the place. It is on Commercial road.

I went there on my way to the Showgrounds for the International food festival having read that the food is pretty pricey there for tiny serves. I bought a Groupon a while back for $10 for a meal deal (their meal deals are normally $17).

The girls behind the counter were very friendly and knowledgeable. But I think they forgot to ask me which bun I wanted the burger on; there are two choices as you can see in the picture above- brioche and wholemeal. Sauces are $1 extra but they make it themselves.

The burgers are to die for . Here I had a vegetarian burger which was well made and demolished within minutes. I was starving by the way. I loved how they used raita instead of mayonnaise as the raita blends in well with everything. I.e the tomato chutney

I also enjoyed their spicy chips. They were so addictive. The meal came with mayonnaise which was pretty good and went well with the spicy chips.

Rating: 17/20 Better than Grill'd anyday.

Do come to this Indian fusion as this one is the first one in Melbourne.

Ann's fish and chips

This is in Prahran Market and I have walked by them a few times. Here they are always so empty I wonder why.

Today was no different even though it was Christmas eve and the place was packed full of people. The other falafel place was busy.

Here they do the best fish and chips without salt. Which is great on the health. They source their fish from within the market.

Service was just ok.

They have limited seating but not much within the market, hence many customers get theirs takeaway.

We enjoyed ours very much. We both had the kids option for $7 seeing as we had lunch beforehand and just wanted a snack. That and iced tea.

We enjoyed it very much so.

But on another note....
Someone got fined today for not having a valid ticket on a tram because they couldn't top up in an unfamiliar area to them and they cannot top up on the tram. They came by car to the market but had to get the tram into the city.

Now folks where's the best place to top up in Prahran? Besides the train station and the very far away 7-11 store.Tell us where and how to get there.

Cone heads

Cone Heads is known for their chip cones. Like Lord of the Fries they are a fast food store. I had been wanting to go in there for some time. It wasn't busy on a Sunday lunchtime and I wondered why when the old Lord of the Fries (now Rocket) was.

Cone Heads also sells burgers as well, but I was just hankering for chips that day as a post workout lunch. They opened a year ago and they had an amazing Groupon deal but by then I wasn't so keen on Groupon and all.

The service was a little nonchalant though. The guy seemed a little tired. Maybe he was a uni student.
And so I did and ordered a regular Belgium Frites with Gary's homemade chilli mayo. It was $6.50 all up and the fries were on the smallish side. I had expected bigger.

But homemade chilli mayo was incredible. I could have had more of this if I tried.

The fries were nicely done though and they were fresh. No old oil there yippee.
