RNIS was invited to attend by the City of Melbourne and Blue Studies
Meld's International student conference was held this weekend. It was in Arrow and it was fun an informative. It was $35 to get in and that included some goodies and food. It went on for two days but sadly RNIS couldn't come to the second day.
Job Hunting 101
Participants learnt a lot about the job market and about networking. There were many sessions throughout the conference in which to network. The job market is so competitive these days and it is hard to find a good job let alone sustain one. Nowadays everyone is using seek.com.au so it is harder to find a job via Seek.
Nowadays you need to network and have a great resume and cover letter tailored to meet the key selection criteria. Your careers adviser can have a look at your resume. You should get your resume and your cover letter check by someone who is Australian such as your lecturer and careers adviser,
What are your goals, aspirations? You need to start planning this now. When you write your cover letter when you apply for the job tell the company your goals in their company
Research: Research the company before you go for the interview and when you apply is a great idea.
TAG Day
Teach Anything Good day.
This part of the day was fun. Participants had to sign up for four classes adn the cheesecake making one was fun. Here this was a no bake class but we had to get into teams of four and make the cheesecake which is so easy.
The Capaella Brazillian dancing was also fun. Here participants worked off their energies for this.
Domenic Soh taught us the impoartance of Linkedin and how students can get noticed on this platform.
Professional networking night.
This was loads of fun and there were 10 industry professionals who had to choose one of the best networkers to have lunch with. They all did choose the best student. Sadly I was not one of them but I learnt a lot
It was a great way to finish off the conference over food.
Many thanks to the City of Melbourne and Blue Studies for the invite.
