DUSA has a new legal advice clinic for International students

DUSA is Deakin University's Student Association and they have been doing lots for their students such as the petting zoo, free food etc. But they also dug a little deeper and built a new legal clinic just for International students.

The clinic is called "Sort It". Deakin University's student services have been providing for their students and their needs.

DUSA saw the need for free legal advice for students, particularly International students. International students don't know their rights and how to access legal advice for free. Many of them don't have the money to access legal advice, particularly on Migration.

International students have trouble knowing their rights on education and living in Melbourne. In regards to that, International students don't realise that they have the same rights as everyone else on these matters. The aim of the centre is to also say that International students are not cash cows, unlike what some of the locals think.

They did this in conjunction with the Eastern Legal Centre and Barwon community legal service.

The clinic is about visa advice and Permanent residency and its only available to Deakin students. Here the students can access information on their rights as well as how to apply for PR. It is staffed by registered Migration agents and students can access this for free.

Deakin students can check out this site. Note this service is only available on Monday evenings from 6pm and students can either drop in or book an appointment via their site.

RMIT, when will you have a legal service just like this one where they talk about PR and Migration for International students?
