Some students have to go out to Bundoora to study some of the RMIT courses such as nursing. Here is the lowdown.
There are two campuses; Bundoora East and Bundoora West. Most of the time when I'm in Bundoora, I'm in Bundoora west.
Bundoora West is bigger than Bundoora East and much more noticeable.
It is here that students don't care much about fashion as this is primarily a place for students to study Health, Education and Sciences. Most students drive to Bundoora but there is the option of taking public transport. Public transport is limited and buses (depending on where you live and yes they are in zone 2) come one every half an hour and trams every ten minutes. But the trip from the city is about one hour to one hour and a half.
The toilets here (except building 204) are disgusting. Everything in Building 204 is clean as this is where the Student Union and the RMIT Link are. Here this is a nice and quiet study area unlike the library which can get very busy and noisy at times. The technology is outdated in the library. Bundoora doesn't have the Papercut application that the city campus has.
There are the weekly BBQ and breakfasts that the Student Union organizes. There is the odd stall where there are cheap $2.50-$3 bags of lollies outside the library. There is also the free books that the library sometimes gives students.
There isn't much in terms of food, but students can go to Uni Hill or make their own food and use the microwaves in 204 which is also cleaned regularly. I have been to the Uni cafe a couple of times and it is very expensive and sub par. But there is another cafe outside Building 220 and that is lovely (just like Stax in the city).
There are lots and lots of open areas and sporting facilities here such as the athletic and soccer fields.
There is a chiropractor and psychology clinic here staffed by students.
There are quite a few cafes here, but they aren't as great as the ones in the city.
Do you know of any new cafes that have opened up in the area and that are great for students? Feel free to drop us a line below or via Imotiv.
