Consumer Affairs Victoria is a body that deals with consumer law and they make and enforce the laws in Victoria. However you can make a complaint to them if need be.
The Consumer Affairs Victoria is warning all Victorians particularly International students to watch out for travelling con men. These con men targets people that don't speak English well. they give some offers which are too good to be true.
They tend to be a lot more active during the summer months where the bushfires happen.
They usually knock on the door when you are home and they would make an offer on the spot. One way to chekc if they are working for the compnay they say that they are is to get their full name and their work number and ring the company yourself. Don't sign an agreement unless you are comfortable.
If you are not sure who they are then don't answer the door. Just pretend you are not home. Or if you have to, just say no.
