As part of Bupa's best blog competition for 2015
Well movie snacks are getting more and more expensive so we suggest some which are healthy and good for you. Most of them don't require a lot of effort.
Most days movie snacks have heaps of unwanted calories and are very expensive. Think $7 for a small popcorn.
Cobs Popcorn
It is naturally sweet but they do have 91 cal per serve and it doesn't have as much salt or fat (no butter) which is good for you. It is about $4-$5 at the market for a big bag of this and it is very addictive without the guilt.
Fruit
Fruit varies between 40-100 cals depending on how many pieces you have in the movies. Do bring whatever you have from home
Sushi
They are 160 cal each and three to four rolls make one meal. They are about $2-$3 per roll but if you can make your own even better. You can find them in the food court or in the supermarket. Most cinemas are in shopping centers and there is bound to be a sushi shop somewhere.
Iced Tea (not soft drinks or Lipton's ones, but actual iced tea from some Asian grocer, Gong Cha or Chattime)
Daiso has drinks for $2.80 and they are the Japanese teas and drinks. Or you could bring your own water bottle. Iced tea is about 90 cal per cup depending on the sugar content of it.
Most of the Japanese green teas don't have much sugar in it.
Vegetables
A homemade salad is always good, but if you want to share it then maybe veggie sticks. Canned three beans and tuna is also great.
Veggie and fruit juices
Places like Top Juice have some great veggie juices which is made freshly or you can make your own.
Nuts and dried fruits
Another great way of being healthy as they both have iron and nut has calcium for strong bones. Dried fruit has vitamin c. You can buy them at the supermarket or at the markets on the weekend and then just take whatever you need
