Leftovers

As part of Bupa's best blog competition for 2015

Students do you know what to do with your leftover food? Don't throw it away. Here are some ideas.

"When I was growing up I used to have leftovers all the time. I loved it. I still do til this very day.  If my fmaily and I ordered takeaway and we couldn't finish it, we'd always have some for the next day." Katherine

I still do to this day. Like one day last week I enjoyed leftover homemade potato salad. I also enjoy eating rice from last night's dinner in a salad. In winter I love having vegetable soup with leftover boiled potatoes

I sometimes eat my leftovers for breakfast the next day. Then that way I can enjoy a good nourishing breakfast.

With my leftover ripe tomatoes I could make a tomato paste or puree. With the leftover mangoes I could make a puree. With my very ripe bananas I could do a banana cake. Or freeze them for smoothies.

If I was to buy a huge punnet of strawberries, I'd eat half of it and then freeze the other half for when I run out of fruits. Same as the mango cheeks.

Students try to use all your leftovers whenever you can as you can save a bit of money. Learn to love your leftovers
