RNIS bought a $30 Groupon for two, hence did not have to pay the $25 entry fee. They did however have to pay a $1 crown card fee, but any of the unused crowns got returned to them.
The team came by tram from the city and they went to the Friday session of this
The Taste of Melbourne is back and this time it was bigger and better. Gone was the Tasmanian pavillion a thing that I liked the most. In its place was dish'd a new online delivery service. Also a welcome addition was the Maille Mustard stall with 18 new varieties of mustard which are not seen in Coles and Woolworths. In addition to that there was the Olsson Salt stall with their salt tasting sessions.
First up was Movida's calamari and chorizo stew ($8 but it filled me up and I was happy not to have the bread). The chorizo was just perfect but the calamari was just a tad bit overcooked. I loved the flavour of the broth. This will be a lovely winter's day dish.
Then it was Mr Claws turn with their crab buns ($12). It was lovely and the pickled ginger really gave it that edge. I heard rumours that Mr Claws will be having a restaurant soon.
BStilla was the only place that did non alcoholic mocktails for $6 for a big cup. I was easily full after this.
We also got a fish taco from Mamasita for $6. It smelt good and was good
Then it was time for the shopping. Here we bought two packets of vege chips for $5 and a Feldman's sauce showbag for $20 which included a choice of four jars and one sauce.
Other things we got were tea, chocolates, coffee, free tabasco sauce and Maille mustard. There were many wonderful delights on offer such as chocolate smoothies, free food from Dish'd and much more.
Munich was there but it was empty.
Dilmah was back this year with their tea tasting sessions which we enjoyed. We sampled jasmine tea which was brewed for three minutes. The Dilmah team used filtered water for this session.
There were a lot more bars this year than food, but oh well. All is good for those that love to drink. As for us we were happy with what we bought.
