As students you work hard for your money. But you want to live life to the fullest without spending much. Here are some of our tips.
1) Learn to love secondhand
That doesn't just include books, it also includes clothes and furnitures. There might just a secondhand shop near you or you can go eBay and bid for items as little as $1. Some of these items are never used and so they are in good condition.
2) Don't eat out every day
Did you know that with some meals where it serves four such as soup can be put in the freezer for a while and then taken out for lunch or dinner. Same as with sauces and curries. You can do a big cook up every Sunday so that you have enough for the week. Then you don't need to spend much.
3) Learn to love the markets for fresh produce
There is always a market or two on every weekend so why not just go to them. Fresh produce bought at the market can be quite cheap say about $4-$5 a kilo/bag. Weekendnotes always promotes them and it is free entry. Its a great way to sample new things that you have never tried before and get engaged in the local community. Don't be a hermit which is cooped up inside at home all day.
4) Use free apps
In today's world there are many free apps available for use and they are there to help you. Some of them may included in your phone plan.
5) Join free societies and clubs such as the rowing club
This is a great way to get fit and make friends for free. Many unis have these sorts of things for free for their students. Also a lot of communities have their own sporting clubs, hence it pays to explore your new suburb.
Also another hint is to join the many Facebook pages for the restaurants as they often have promotions and freebies.
