RNIS was invited to this event by MASCA.
MASCA is the Malaysian Students Council of Australia and they organise events like this to get everyone to connect with one another.
This event was in RMIT's Storey Hall on a Sunday morning. Delegates woke up fairly early and arrived at 9am for a day packed full of info. Most of the delegates had just gotten out of bed hence all the coffees.
It was a business casual affair with a few people rocking up in jeans and t-shirt.
What is the Malaysian dream?
The Malaysian dream is about making Malaysia a better place to be in. A lot of Malaysians want equal rights and opportunities. They want to be able to look after one another. It starts with everyone.
They also want changes to the education and ecconomical system in Malaysia. Education changes society for the better. The Malaysian government has spent about half of its budget on education. But if they were to have a new Higher Ed stategy it will see them have new courses and new technology for the younger generation. Right now 67% of people are using the Internet for shopping. So of course e-commerce is a big thing in Malaysia. The consumer market is much more sophisticated
Vision 2020
This has captured the heart of Malaysian society. Malaysia is committed to this vision where it sees more jobs. Right now it has 1.3 billion jobs and by 2020 it wants to have 3 billion jobs. By then it also wants to be a more prosperous and united country
Leadership and innovation
" Choose your own adventure".
Malaysians are not good in taking charge of things. They always blame it on someone else.Students need to make choices. What you choose to do as a proffessional will contribute to society.
Many thanks to MASCA for the invite into this informative session.
