These days many bloggers and critics are writing a response to the new ACCC guidelines which I think are fair. What are my thoughts about this whole issue? I explore the issue.
I love to write positive things about a business rather than being too negative. On the odd occasion I have become a little bit too negative. Its only just because things weren't exactly to anyone's liking. But I wouldn't do that with sponsored posts only my own, paid for (out of my money) post. When I do sponsored posts we always love to receive the product to try, rather than just writing about it (this is known as a fake review).
But all too often I have seen a fair few negative reviews particularly from professional journalists which really peeves me. They are paid to write these reviews by the restauranteurs (or comped by the paper). We, the food bloggers are not ( although some have guest posts in the paper). Larissa's one on Vapiano was a little too harsh in my opinion.
Larissa's latest one talks about being on the gravy (freeloading) train. I do admit that I love my freebies and being comped for things but not all the time. As for "shit sandwich", we love our food and whatever we eat. We, the food bloggers are never unhappy. We love a good party.
Oh and what the Age does not cover and the bloggers do just a great job is the restaurants in the suburbs. One of the ones that wasn't covered is the Lakehouse in Edgewater Boulevard which is just stunning. I went there with Claudia and I just enjoyed the food and the views. It was just stunning. Sen in Footscray was really good, but then again that was not covered by the Age.
Consider the Sauce is one such blog that I love as that blog talks about all things in suburban Melbourne and the guy is such an honest blogger.
The ACCC has some serious guidelines in which people need to abide by.
We the food bloggers are not professionals, but we are learning lots and learning is a good thing. Every time we get asked to do something by a restaurant it is known as getting an opportunity. The thing that we love to do is to seize that opportunity. Thank you to the places for asking us to do stuff as for without you we not got this far.
