Moomba festival is very big in Melbourne and its always popular with the locals. The festival is always on the Labour day long weekend. This year it is the 60th year for Moomba. Every year there is always a king and queen of Moomba and it is one of the celebrities. The King and Queen changes each year.

Each year there is the Birdman Rally. But I wasn't there to see it. I came on Saturday rather than Sunday when the Birdman Rally was on.

Moomba from years ago when I went in my school years. Oh the nostalgia. |
This is like the Royal Melbourne Show with all the carnival rides but except it was free entry and dogs were permitted.
It was a rather warm day so everyone sat on the banks of the river and watched the waterskiing. It was so much fun. They also had drinking fountains unlike the Show which did not. At the Show you had to pay for water. In here you did not.
Food wasn't cheap but I did go a rather healthy slushee ($5) and Bretzel biz's original pretzel ($4).

Everyone had fun playing the games though and most were $5 to play.
Everyone also helped to make the float and some also made hats.

Verdict: I prefer the Moomba festival over the Show anyday. At least I didn't have to pay $20 entry fees for nothing.
